I'm also not convinced by the idea of using emulsion as a skincare step before cream. I can choose from a variety of cream weights if I want to add extra moisture to my regimen, but if I want a layer of moisture that isn't quite a cream, I'd rather add a good, rich serum with some specific elements. However, I was sufficiently fascinated to accept Wishtrend*'s offer to send me a bottle of COSRX’s new emulsion product. Even though I'm not very successful with emulsions, I'm always willing to give COSRX a shot.
The purpose of the lightweight moisturizer cosrx oil free ultra moisturizing lotion is to deeply hydrate and balance the skin without adding greasiness.
Ideal for: All skin types, but particularly oily or dehydrated skin that requires moisture and hydration without feeling heavy. The cosrx oil free ultra moisturizing lotion with birch sap 100ml is especially well-loved for its use of birch sap, which helps replenish moisture and soothe sensitivity.
Avoid using it if you have a sensitivity to any of the following: olive oil derivatives such as cetearyl olivate and sorbitan olivate; fatty (moisturizing) alcohols such as cetearyl alcohol; or any other ingredient listed.
COSRX Ultra Moisturizing Lotion is a lightweight, silky moisturizer designed to hydrate and soften the skin barrier.
Perfect for: Any skin type, but especially for dry or oily skin that needs hydration and moisture without feeling weighed down. This oil free moisturizing lotion helps keep the skin balanced and smooth while preventing clogged pores.
When and how to use:
Pay attention to the instructions — indeed, this is a moisturizer! Along with a few other Snailcast Snail Unit members, I have been using it as a moisturizer! The Oil-Free Ultra-Moisturizing Lotion can be used as a layer of hydration in between stronger moisturizing creams, if desired. Simply apply after toner, hydrator, essence, serum, or ampoule phases in your skincare regimen, and then do whatever your skin requires next.
COSRX Oil-Free Ultra-Moisturizing Lotion ingredients:

Performance
To cover my face, neck, and upper chest all at once, I've used as few as three pumps and as many as six. Thus far, I've found that, although using too little of the product is possible, using too much doesn't seem to be an option. The lotion absorbs quickly after application and dries down to a satiny finish in a matter of minutes. This product saves a significant amount of time from my process, which is one of the reasons I love using it in the mornings. I've never had to wait more than five minutes to apply my sunscreen, even at six pumps.
Speaking of sunscreen, cosrx oil free ultra moisturizing lotion works really well with silicone-heavy sunscreens like Senka Mineral Water UV Essence (also known as Shiseido Senka Aging Care*) or Biore Bright Milk, as well as watery ones like my go-to HG favorite Biore Watery Essence. When I use the lotion as my morning moisturizer, I don't experience any pilling under my makeup. In addition, my sunscreen dries down nearly as quickly as if I had no other products on underneath it when I apply it over the COSRX Ultra Moisturizing Lotion.
Naturally, if the oil free moisturizing lotion felt that way, it wouldn’t be good. Fortunately, it doesn’t feel like nothing at all on my skin. Rather, from the moment I use the product in the morning until I begin my PM routine in the evening, it surprisingly effectively moisturizes and maintains the moisture in my skin. On extremely dry days, even heavier products have made my skin feel tight and painful. Since I started using the COSRX lotion, I have experienced a number of those days, but despite being able to sense the dryness in the air, I haven't experienced any itching or discomfort—not even on my neck, which is always dry. Amazingly wonderful.
Conclusion:
Although cosrx oil free ultra moisturizing lotion isn't truly oil-free and won't significantly improve some skin conditions, it's among the greatest day moisturizers I've ever used for light skin. It appears to be nearly universally liked, too, based on what I've heard from other friends who use the same product. Oily and dehydrated-oily skin types benefit greatly from its quick absorption and non-greasy finish, but even dryer complexions can benefit from its good moisturizing properties. It is straightforward, sturdy, and designed to be a reliable daily essential.
If you’re looking for alternatives, oil of olay moisturizing lotion is another classic option, but personally, I find the cosrx oil free ultra moisturizing lotion with birch sap 100ml to be lighter, more refreshing, and better suited for modern skincare routines.
