Korean K-beauty sheet masks are well-known, but what about Japanese skincare products or J-beauty? Finland now has access to LuLuLun Sheet Masks, the top-selling Japanese sheet mask LuLuLun brand in Japan! I was eager for them to formally premiere since I was running out of masks and had a sneak glimpse of this release in early autumn. I'll tell you about my favorite LuLuLun face mask brand and what makes LuLuLun unique in today's post!
When I was visiting (and eventually residing) in Japan in the early 2010s, I came across the brand for the first time. Finland does not have pharmacies, and I quite enjoyed my visit to a nice Japanese pharmacy. Since LuLuLun sheet masks were so well-liked and promoted in every store, it was easy to notice them. What, in my opinion, makes LuLuLun precious face mask unique:
Comfort (non-slip, fit)
Quality (excellent components and moisture-retaining sheet)
Reduced waste (multipacks available)
The material of the sheet itself is excellent and quite soft. To maintain the most moisture, each mask is composed of three layers of sheets. I've worn these for more than twenty minutes without any problems, and they won't dry out, even though the recommended wear period is five to ten minutes. The serum concentration is "just right" such that it doesn't drop into your clothing, but could this also be a result of the mask technology? The LuLuLun face mask doesn't slide or slip while worn, and they suit my big face well enough. I've used it to make coffee, blow dry my hair, and even perform squats!
LuLuLun precious masks save a ton of plastic and packaging material because they come in bundles of 1, 7, or 32(!) masks. Although I felt horrible about how wasteful it was, I used to sheet mask practically every day. LuLuLun pure mask multipack sheet masks revive the "daily self-care" ritual! Multipacks are common in the Asian beauty industry; however, I felt that some of the masks were drier since the liquid dripped to the bottom of the bag, or most of them seemed cheap. Even though I keep Japanese sheet mask LuLuLun packs vertically, they manage to retain moisture uniformly.
How to Pick a Sheet Mask from LuLuLun
I haven't come across a mask style or "flavor" that I didn't like, so I truly appreciate the variety. Just pick one that appeals to you if the range intimidates you:
- Balance: These, in my opinion, are intended for people with combination to oily skin types who have breakouts or excessive sebum production.
- Moisturize: For normal to dry and dehydrated skin types.
- Aging care: For people that want extra nourishment, choose LuLuLun Precious & +45.
All LuLuLun face masks (except from the prefecture series) are alcohol-free and fragrance-free. Try a single-pack one first if you have really sensitive skin. For me, the multipacks—particularly the Japanese prefecture series—are the best. These LuLuLun sheet masks have a very subtle aroma that hasn't caused any irritation to my skin. These masks are a wonderful way to remember or experience Japan, which I really miss: Local customs and specialties are highly valued by Japanese people. For instance, Hokkaido prefecture is well-known for its melons, and the mask that bears its name, LuLuLun Hokkaido Melon, contains melon seed oil.
Although the components differ from mask to mask, the majority of them have relaxing, moisturizing, and hydrating qualities. Glycerin, hydrolyzed collagen, squalene, ceramides, and a variety of plant and seed extracts, including tara/carob fruit, perilla leaf, and kombu seaweed, are among them.
